President's Message...

It's a Great Time to Be a Chiropractor

On February 3rd, the GCC kicked off our monthly Saturday Night Live events. Dr Jeremy Hess and Dr Janice Hughes brought a strong message to the audience at Life U. We had a strong turnout and got such positive feedback from attendees! Thank you to all who helped and attended.

On Thursday, February 8th Dr Cheryl Langley did her one day CA Intensive training to a packed house. My wife, Rachel and one of my CA’s attended and said she did a phenomenal job. Even after 20 years in practice we have added and implemented many ideas from this training. Look for future GCC CA training dates with Dr Langley.

Our first stop on the Passion for Principle: 2018 TIC Tour was February 24-25 in beautiful historic downtown Savannah. Speakers included Drs. John Davila, Michelle Massa, Steve Ranicki, Dan Tew, Drew Henderson and the Vice President of Sherman College, Neil Cohen!!! It was a great weekend of CE training and fellowship not just for Savannah area DCs but for several others who traveled from as far away as Indiana!!! (Here's a quick video review of the event)

Our next SNL event will be a combination of Nuts and Bolts with Dr. Nicole Lindsey teaching about a referral practice and myself providing the philosophy! Join us March 3rd at the Courtyard by Marriott at WindyHill and “bring a friend!”

Also look for some big legislative news coming soon. I can’t go into it now but maybe next month after a meeting or two… ;)

GCC Board Adopts Resolution Rejecting
Choosing Wisely Campaign

The Officers and Board of Directors of the Georgia Council of Chiropractic recently voted to unanimously adopt a resolution rejecting the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Foundation’s Choosing Wisely® x-ray protocols and supporting the evidence‐based science for appropriate radiologic evaluations of patients seeking chiropractic care developed by the International Chiropractors Association’s (ICA) Practicing Chiropractor’s Committee on Radiology Protocols (PCCRP). GCC Members Host Community Event
Unraveling Neurodevelopmental Disorders

This past Wednesday I was blessed to be a part of an amazing event right here in Marietta Georgia. This event was unlike any other I personally had been a part of or put together for our community. It was directed 100% toward a portion of our population who is underserved and searching for answers anywhere they can find them.

Our event, “Unraveling Neurodevelopmental Disorders”, was a combined effort between myself, Dr. Francis Marcone (another Atlanta based Chiropractor and GCC board member), and Dr. Steve Tullius of San Diego California. Dr. Steve has clocked countless hours developing the educational content for this program and is helping dozens of chiropractors around the country make A HUGE impact for those who are struggling with many different Neurodevelopmental disorders. Our goal was to reach as many parents, educators, counselors, healthcare providers and caregivers as possible with the above, down Inside-out message of health and healing through the principles of chiropractic. And... I am happy to report, that It was a HUGE success.

We hosted the event At the Cobb Galleria Center and packed out a room with almost 100 attendees. These people were eager and looking for ways to improve the quality of the lives of the children, students, and patients. It truly was an amazing evening and One that I will remember for the rest of my career. Just days later I am already seeing these children showing up in my office and I feel honored and privileged to be a part of their journey.

You truly never know how far reaching something you may think say or do will affect the lives of millions tomorrow. Keep on keeping on.

ICA Update...

ICA Releases Statement Regarding Bipartisan Legislation to Ensure Chiropractic Coverage in Tricare for Military Retirees, Dependents, and Survivors

February 14, 2018, Falls Church, VA: Congressmen Mike D. Rogers (R-AL) and David Loebsack, (D-IA) introduced HR 4973 the Chiropractic Health Parity for Military Beneficiaries Act. This legislation seeks to implement a permanent inclusion of chiropractic services through Tricare to military retirees, their dependents and survivors. The legislation will require access to chiropractic, without a referral from other health providers. The legislation covers chiropractic care and confirms Congress’s position that chiropractic care does not include surgery or drugs.

Beth Clay, Director of Government Relations stated, “The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) supports this legislation. It is past time those who have served our nation and their families should be ensured access to chiropractic care through their Tricare insurance. Congressman Rogers has introduced this important legislation nine times since 2003. Last session, Congress instructed the Administration to study the feasibility expanding chiropractic coverage in Tricare beyond active duty members to also include retirees, dependents and survivors. We will be asking every member of Congress to co-sponsor this bill and help it become law.” (Click here to read more)
